Child ID Program Practice

Chris ChagOn Tuesday, September 7th at 7PM we will be learning how to run the equipment for our Child ID program. The equipment has been donated and is ready to go. We just need to get out and help law enforcement save children's lives. This is important Brothers! I don't want to find out that a kidnapped child died because the police didn't have the information that could have saved his life. Bring a friend and let's get started on this.

From the South - September 2010

All SternI would like to welcome all of the brothers back from the summer break. Hopefully everybody is well rested and ready to go as there is a lot going on at your lodge.

September 18 is open books, and for lunch this month Oviedo lodge is going to cater it with BarBQ for only 5 dollars a plate. So if you can't make breakfast be sure to come on out for lunch, maybe crack a book or just chat with your brothers.

Bowling night is another great night of fun out and will be on September 10, the turnouts so far have been great! Watch out for the Kings, Mike Seeley, Mac Bledsoe and WB you definitely want these guys on your team!

September 21st is the Past Masters and Widows Dinner, if you know someone who fits this category call them up and make sure they know about it, and have a way there.

The following week will be the DDGM visit at our regular dinner meeting.

Finally, on  September 11th there will be a Master Mason  degree, I hear rumor there will be up to 15 brothers being raised.

So again Welcome back, I look forward to seeing you all soon.

Al Stearns, Junior Warden

From the West - September 2010

Chris ChagA couple of weeks ago, I plopped down on the couch in the lodge foyer and took a minute to think about life as a Freemason. Why should Brothers come to the lodge? What do we expect to gain from our fraternity? I came up with three things: Fellowship, Charity and Ritual. Our Fellowship is important; without it we are not a fraternity. If we come to the lodge and take the time to enjoy each other's company, then we can pursue similar interests together. That leads to number two, Charity. We all want to improve our communities. Whether we are Shriners helping children through hospitals, or contributing pennies to the Masonic home, we are eager to give to those in need. And we enjoy giving when we do it together. But our Fellowship and Charity are meaningless without the ancient and secret Rituals we follow to join in our lodges. These rituals, ancient and aesthetic, give us a common experience to draw from and provide elegant moral lessons.

So, this is what I want from my lodge: Fellowship, Charity and Ritual. What do you want? Collectively, we can pursue our interests. It's time to get to work. We are looking for new ways to use the technological marvels at our disposal to communicate and make your lodge more accessible. We are pursuing new ways to give back to the community and to interact socially. And as always, we have the pleasure of rich traditions to draw from. You can't download the degrees and become a Freemason. It takes a commitment of time. And with time, patience and perseverance all things may be accomplished.

From the East - September 2010

Mark AverySEPTEMBER ALREADY!!! This year is flying so fast; you know what that means. We are having fun.
I want to thank everyone for giving me this opportunity to serve as your master of this beautiful lodge. I have had a wonderful experience and I would not change it for nothing.
Every brother stepped up to the plate and assisted me in making it wonderful.

I want to congratulate all the Fellow Crafts in continuing their journey in becoming a Master Mason. These brothers could not have made it without the help and support of brothers like you.
Brother Ray and John are awesome for getting these brothers in that direction.

Thank you Brother Ken for making the child ID program come to life. On September 30 at 5pm at Eastbrook Elementary School; the PTA has asked us to do a child ID session at their ice cream social.

Winter Park Lodge was honored at Winter Park City Hall on August 23 by the mayor, thank you Brother Jeff in getting Winter Park into the community.

Brother John, thank you in setting up bowling.

Don't forget the Master Mason degree on September 11, 2010 at 11am. We need everyone there to assist. This will be a mile stone for the lodge.

October 12, 2010 starting at 4pm at Ameila Lodge for dinner then there will be the outdoor degree at Fort Clinch.

Fraternally,

Mark Avery, Worshipful Master

Chet King - Personal Representative (Scottish Rite)

Chris ChagBrothers,

As you may or may not know, On Friday, August 27th, Winter Park's Chet King is being installed as the Personal Representative to the Deputy of the Supreme Council in the Orient of Florida.
Let's get out and attend this event for a brother who has done a lot for Masonry in Winter Park and the 17th district.
Dinner starts at 6:30. If you can, ask some other Scottish Rite brothers to join us tomorrow night.

Knights of St Andrew is at 5:45 (if you are not a member, and would like to be (all the cool kids are don’t cha know?!) we have “same day” petitions avail)!

Chris
