From the South - September 2010

All SternI would like to welcome all of the brothers back from the summer break. Hopefully everybody is well rested and ready to go as there is a lot going on at your lodge.

September 18 is open books, and for lunch this month Oviedo lodge is going to cater it with BarBQ for only 5 dollars a plate. So if you can't make breakfast be sure to come on out for lunch, maybe crack a book or just chat with your brothers.

Bowling night is another great night of fun out and will be on September 10, the turnouts so far have been great! Watch out for the Kings, Mike Seeley, Mac Bledsoe and WB you definitely want these guys on your team!

September 21st is the Past Masters and Widows Dinner, if you know someone who fits this category call them up and make sure they know about it, and have a way there.

The following week will be the DDGM visit at our regular dinner meeting.

Finally, on  September 11th there will be a Master Mason  degree, I hear rumor there will be up to 15 brothers being raised.

So again Welcome back, I look forward to seeing you all soon.

From the South - August 2010

Allen SternsI hope the summer months find all of you well. Although the lodge is dark there has been a lot going on.

Bowling night has come to pass, and in my opinion it was a huge success. There were lots of brothers bowling and lots of them not, it was a great night of fellowship. Anyone who can make the next one on the second Friday in August I would urge to do so, you will have a great time.

Open books and the annual Zone 5 Education events were also held open books as always was a fun an informative event, and the Zone 5 Workshop had great attendance and was full of great information.

Another notable event was Demolay's Conclave which was held in Tampa this year, I won't discuss it, suffice to say that I have learned first hand the tyranny that a monarchy can produce.

I wish all of the newly APPOINTED state line the best of luck......they are going to need it! I look forward to seeing all of you at the dinner meeting in August.

From the South - July 2010

Al StearnsMy brothers as July begins I can't believe the year is half over! It has certainly been busy, but has gone by fast and has been very rewarding. Being your Junior Warden has thus far been a great experience and I have learned a lot. Grand Lodge is by far one of the greatest Masonic events I have ever attended, and I would urge all Masons to attend it if they ever have the opportunity. Additionally, St.Johns day was great fun and I would like to thank everybody who helped me setup and clean up, and a big thanks to Harvey Glen Avery and the Eastern Star for preparing breakfast. Finally, I would like to thank the degree team and congratulate the new Fellowcrafts who were initiated on the 29th. Hope all of you have a great summer!

From the South - June 2010

Allen SternsGreetings from the South, First I would like to start by congratulating the new Master Masons who were Raised on the 18th.
I would also like to congratulate the degree team on a job well done! June as always will be an event filled month, starting with open books on the 5th, our two stated meetings and winding it up with St. Johns Day on the 26th.
At this time I am asking for volunteers to help me set up for the event on Friday 6/25 at 7P.M. I am also in need of volunteers to help me clean up after breakfast.
I urge all Masons to come out in celebration of this event, for the new Masons it is really a great way to meet brothers from all over the state, and even the southeast.
So please come out and celebrate as we welcome the incoming State Junior Warden into his station!

From the South - May 2010

Allen StearnsGreetings from the South,

May is going to be busy, on May 1st Masters and Wardens will be at WPL. I know all of you have heard it before, but it really is for everybody, there will also be a good breakfast consisting of sausage, scrambled eggs, and biscuits and gravy.

On May 8th open books is back at WPL I urge all brothers to come out not just for the books but for fellowship, an awful lot of brothers show up and don't even in  open a book! There are brothers there from as far away from Vero Beach. One would think that being in Winter Park that most of the brothers would be from our lodge or district, but sadly that is not the case as most of the people that show up are from other districts. So please try to come out and represent! The food is pretty good and the people are great. And just a side note I would like to thank the Scottish Rite for all their help with open books last month. I never would have been able to pull it off without them. I hope someday I can return the favor!

From the South - March 2010

Allen StearnsI would like to thank all of you who came out to open books.
The fresh food seemed to go over well (remember, everything is made to order).
I know this because it met with Glen Avery's approval.
Additionally, I would also like to thank Mike Griffin and Jason Streit for their assistance.
March will be a busy month, especially with the picnic at Mead Gardens.
I want everyone to know that I have been instructed to provide hot dogs at this event.
Unfortunately I must comply (guess who wants hot dogs)!
In closing, I hope to see more of own brothers at open books. There were a lot of people from around the district. Please come on out and enjoy!

Feb 1 2010

From the South - February 2010

Allen SternsI would like to thank all of you who have helped me make a smooth transition into the Junior Wardens Station.
If the rest of the year goes this smooth, it will be a good one!

This year I am going to try something a little different.
At open books, or any function that will open the lodge in the morning, I am going to start serving fresh breakfast sandwiches made to order.
Additionally the showcase in the lobby is being revamped and will be open for business at these times.
So even if you don't want to crack a book, come on out represent your lodge and enjoy some good food and fellowship!
