From the Secretary's Desk

John BukoskiAt our meeting on December 1st we will review those who have not paid their 2009 dues and determine if they should be suspended on December 27th or put on the Emeritus list.
This will be a vote of the craft. My office has sent out notices on June 1st, 1 July 1st and in about all the T/B’s since then.
If you cannot pay the dues prior to 27 December 27th and want to avoid suspension, notify the Worshipful Master or myself and we will review your request.

Due to changes in the elementary school system, we will not host the large holiday party this year because of economical problems for the parents and the school. We will however treat the 3 and 4 year olds’ to a gift and food treat at the school.

This is my last message as your Secretary as I am stepping down after about 14 years for personal and health reasons. We are in luck, however, as Brother Hobie Fisher, is stepping into the office if elected on 1 December. He is very capable, good administrative background and handling finances, etc. I will continue to support him in this matter as long as he desires my assistance. Lois and I thank you all for your  friendship and kindness over the years. God Bless all of you.

Worshipful John E. Bukoski, Secretary

From the South

Chris ChagBrothers,

Well your prayers have been answered. My year as the Culinary genius of Winter Park Lodge is coming to a close. Many Brothers came out to help me cook and serve and I say Thank You. I would have had a miserable year as Junior Warden without all of the help I received. I would like to share some things that I have learned this year: 1.) It’s not burned—it’s Cajun! 2.) Its not raw—it’s al dente! 3.) You can bake scrambled eggs in the oven.
We will be having a Master Mason degree on December 15th starting at 6PM. There will be food available for those who are getting off work. If you can only make it for the second section, please come out and help raise our new Brothers. It is a small group and we will finish early. This is also a warm up for our Degree competition. We need brothers to participate. Last year we did not advance in the competitions because we did not have enough active Brothers. Please come out and join us for the fun and fellowship. I have said it before and I will say it again: When it stops being fun we are going to stop doing it.
There are lots for us as Masons to do. Let’s do it and have fun. Have a happy Holiday Season and a wonderful 2010.
Chris Chag, Junior Warden

From the West

Mark AveryBrothers, I want to wish everyone a very Merry, Merry Christmas. I cannot believe how fast this year has flown. I want to congratulate all the officers for their hard work.
I also want to thank all the brothers that contributed their time. Teamwork is everything. The next few months are going to be very busy for all of us.
December 1st will be the last stated meeting in 2009; at this meeting the election of officers for 2010 will be held, December 15th will be a Master Mason Degree, December 22nd will be a practice for the installation of officers and an officers meeting to follow at 7pm.
The month of January will be even more packed. January will be filled with Lodge installations; January 2nd at 2pm will be the installation of officers for our Lodge.  January 16th and the 17th the Lodge will be setting an information booth at the Highland Scottish Games in Winter Springs; that’s not all, January 23 will be the East-West Shrine Game at the Citrus Bowl; January 30th will be the District Deputy Grand Master homecoming.
On March 27th there will be a Lodge picnic at Mead Gardens in Winter Park.

Mark Avery, Senior Warden

From the East

Bill ValentinoAs the year winds down, I am beset by mixed emotions.  I feel as though I have been blessed by having the dedicated support of everyone at Winter Park Lodge throughout the year, from the Past Masters to not-yet-raised brothers, to our sisters at Pioneer Chapter of Eastern Star, the Rainbow Girls of Hope 82, the boys of South Seminole Chapter of DeMolay and the brothers of South Seminole Lodge.
Most of all, the officers of this year, there are not enough words to express my thanks.  I prepare to leave the East with some regret, because I know there were many opportunities where I could have (and should have) done more, yet I also believe that our Lodge is continuing to grow, not just in numbers, but in knowledge, charity and the ability to be a positive force in our community.
My hope is that I can contribute more to the Lodge in the future, for our future, and I have faith that the future of our Lodge is a bright one.  Knowing the brothers of Winter Park Lodge, I believe that faith is well founded.

Bill Valentino, W.Master
