Communication

Due to the Grand Lodge Communication on Tuesday, May 26th, at the Rosen Plaza in Orlando, the stated meeting of Winter Park Lodge scheduled for that day has been cancelled.  The Worshipful Master encourages all members of Winter Park Lodge and other Brothers to attend the Grand Lodge sessions.

From The East

My Brothers, the next two months are richly full of Masonry here in the Orlando area, and particularly at Winter Park Lodge.  Grand Communication is an opportunity for all Florida Masons to get involved with the future of our institution, and also fellowship with brothers from every part of the state.  Winter Park Lodge is vitally involved, as we have hosted the ritual competition in years past, and will do so again this year.  Also, we will likely need additional help in moving our lodge furniture down to the Rosen that afternoon

The St. John’s Day program is an unparalleled tradition in Florida, and one not to be missed by any Master Mason.  The breakfast, of course, is open to all, and I encourage all associated with our Lodge to come out and have breakfast, and support Pioneer Chapter No. 99, Order of Eastern Star, who has graciously agreed to help prepare the meal.  The program will start after breakfast, and will honor the newly elected Grand Line, among some other festivities.

That evening, the newly appointed District Deputy Grand Master will convene the 17th District Meeting at the Orlando Scottish Rite temple, which is a called communication for all Master Masons in the district.  While all brothers, especially those from Winter Park Lodge, should attend, the tyled meeting is only part of the evening, which will feature a dinner and entertainment.

So, from the youngest Entered Apprentice to the WM in the east, bring your wives, girlfriends, other friends - whomever, to join our own DDGM in hosting the Grand Officers and their ladies for dinner.  We want to put a twinkle in the DDGM’s eye by ensuring that the largest contingent in the room that night are the brothers from Winter Park Lodge.

As an aside, the Florida Rainbow Grand Banquet is also that night, in Tarpon Springs, and I just wanted to thank of the brothers (and OES sisters, too) who have helped out the youth this year.  The kids are our future, and by giving them the example of service and kindness, we can help ensure that our orders have enough young eyes viewing us with respect and admiration that some will form that favorable opinion that prompts them to seek us out when they reach the required age.

Fraternally,

Bill Valentino, Worshipful Master

From The South

Chris ChagThe 2009 Winter Park Lodge 239, 17th District Championship Degree Team: Ray Malanga, Al Stearns, Jerell Little, Chris Rauth, Pat Biggs, Jeff Morgan, W. Bill Valentino, Mark Avery, Chris Chag and Justin McDonald. Coached by W. Ed Henderson.

Thank you to all the brothers who participated. When we decided to create a degree team, we knew that we needed to practice the degrees for new brothers. We wanted to make our own rituals better and have some fun doing it competitively. The degree team is not limited to those who enjoy churning through the memory work. Anybody can play a role and quickly learn a great number of details about the rituals. I hope that you will come out and join us. Contact me if you’re interested.

(Also, please remember St. John’s day is coming up. I desperately need help on Friday the 26th to get the dining room set up and Saturday the 27th with breakfast. FOR THOSE WHO HELP…Free grits!!!)

Chris Chag, Junior Warden

From the Secretary's Desk

John BukoskiGreetings, I am aware that I sound like a broken record but, we need those members who have not paid their dues for 2009 to do so as soon as possible.  With the necessary repairs we have to make to restore our Lodge building from the past twenty plus years of bad weather, our funds are being depleted rapidly.

Every month I’ll remind you that we need to replace the present secretary for 2010.  The sooner we can work with that person the more proficient he shall be.  Should you have any administrative background and some time you’re a good candidate.

The pre-k class enjoyed the circus as some of them never have seen wild animals up close and to see them perform was a joy to them. Thank all for the tickets you provided.

We have seven candidates for the Master Mason Degree which will be conferred on May 5th at 6 p.m.

Worshipful John E. Bukoski, Secretary
