Winter Park Lodge No. 239 F&AM
My Brothers, The Committee on Lodge Property continues to interview service providers for the work that needs to be completed to return the physical property of Winter Park Lodge back to the condition we have long enjoyed. In addition to selecting the service providers who will provide the best value (quality vs. price) to Winter Park lodge, the finance committee is also making plans for the funding of this long overdue building maintenance. Every effort is being made to ensure fiscal responsibility while contracting for work to be completed, always keeping in the forefront of our decision the need to ensure the continued financial health of our lodge.
I have said it before and heard many other say it as well – “Masonry is practiced in your heart, not in the physical lodge building the outwardly represents us to the communities we serve.” No truer words have been spoken. However, in an effort of being good citizens in our local community, it is important that we maintain our physical buildings to ensure we are attracting those potential members who have not yet come to understand or appreciate the true essence of Masonry in their hearts as we have in ours. To that end, we, the Committee on Lodge Property, is making every effort to ensure the repairs are completed before the 2008 year comes to a close. As aggressive as this might seem, I believe it can happen, especially with the support of the near 500 members and friends of Winter Park Lodge.
In the not to distant future, this years Worshipful Master will be making a request to all the members and friends of Winter Park Lodge, asking for your financial support. In the end, all that is being asked so that our dues can increase at a reasonable rate, and we do not experience any type of assessment, is that you contribute “as liberally as your abilities may permit and the lodge necessities require! ”Many years ago George S. Patton said: “If a man does his best, what else can we ask?” Together, doing our best, we will return the physical lodge back to its pristine condition, be good citizens in our local community, and continue to see the growth and prosperity we have long enjoyed at Winter Park Lodge.
I will continue these monthly articles, and remember I am a phone call away. If you have questions, please call and I will return your call as soon as I am able.
Thanks!
Chester A. King, PM – Chairman Committee on Lodge Property
