The first Masonic Lodge in Florida to stand the test of time was Jackson Lodge #23.
This was Florida’s ninth lodge and was chartered on December 19, 1825 by the recently organized Grand Lodge of Alabama, it was named for Major General Andrew Jackson and was to meet at Tallahassee, Florida.
The charter was granted after thirteen Master Masons residing in Tallahassee had petitioned the Grand Lodge of Alabama for that charter.
